Tuesday, September 24th.
Papa was home a bit early and woke you up from your nap.
You insisted on bringing your bear with you and giving him kisses after giving Papa his.

Wednesday, September 25th.
You like to share your food with us; well really, with anyone that will take it from you.

Thursday, September 26th.
The playgrounds around here are pretty lame (there are never any kids for you to play with and everything is too tall for you to climb by yourself), so we don't go very often. We went for a walk and stopped to let you play, just because,
and you were so happy. We were playing peek-a-boo through the holes in the floor and you couldn't stop laughing.

Friday, September 27th.
You like to help me put the groceries away, in your own way.

Saturday, September 28th.
There were miles of trails to hike and explore, but you really didn't want to leave the entrance.
You gravitate towards rocks anywhere we go. You got down on all fours and ran your hands through
the dirt and rocks over and over, mesmerized.
Sunday, September 29th.
I've never been good at schedules, so I'm not good at committing to do something everyday no matter what.
I'm kind of a 'fly by the seat of your pants' kind of person. I've been telling myself that you need more stimulation,
but my personality and habits get in the way of that sometimes. I'm embarrassed to say that sometimes we haven't
stepped foot outside by the time Papa gets home. I'm trying to become more deliberate in our daily schedule.
I don't want to send you to preschool just because I can't get my act together.
I want to be able to give you what you need here with me, at home. Papa is the fun one right now,
and I want to be fun too. It seems that there are never enough hours in the day for me to get things done, but you,
you are most important. Your happiness is a priority. I guess I'm still stuck in baby mode.
I think you should need a lot less interaction than you actually do, but I'm figuring it out.
I'll get the hang of this kid phase we've moved into soon.
Sometimes I wish I could ask you to wait for me, as I have some growing to do too.

Monday, September 30th.
An idea struck me. You love our hammock outside, so I wanted to make one for you inside.
A sheet wouldn't fit around our dining room table, so I commissioned (a reluctant) Papa
to help me rig one up someplace else. We spent a good 30 minutes trying different places,
but ended up stringing one across your crib. It was worth it.
You loved it and were laughing so hard you kept falling out of it.
Beautiful moments! My personality gets in the way of us going out and doing things too...be gentle with yourself. All these babes need us mama for now. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I've sort of fought that battle with myself for quite sometime and can usually tell myself that I'm a good mother regardless of how often we get out of the house, but it gets the best of me at times.
DeleteWe made hammocks in the crib too! You have such lovely lens flare in these - I can never get it when I try to ;) Love that naked bum putting away the groceries!
ReplyDeleteWe tried to make one under the dining room table first, but the sheet wasn't big enough. She loved it though! She kept saying 'da doo Mama da too' (thank you).
DeleteAnd that lens flare was a fluke. I've never gotten such a beautiful one and haven't again since!
That hammock is an awesome idea!! How fun!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sara! We had so much fun with it! It's been a while since we've done it again and I'm thinking we're due for another hammock night.
DeleteCutest little monkey! I love the 'helping'!
ReplyDeleteI just stopped by from the mom-lovin hop...I'll add you to my follows!!
